Dear homestay,
My name is Saikou Diallo. I am 25 years old and soon to attend York University as a senior international student from Guinea (West Coast of Africa). I lived in the U.S for the last 7 years and mostly with remarkable homestay families in Madison (Wisconsin) and Boston (Massachussets). The choice of a homestay is an experience I learned to admire over the years. As a first timer in Toronto weighing the idea of the crowded and loud campus student lifestyle, I prefer the warm and quiet atmosphere a home has to offer.
However these next lines may sound, please understand the value I accord on respecting your home. Privacy is a very sought after aspect of one's life. Would it be of concern, in all personal circumstances, to have a friend over? Some wouldn't even allow visits from the opposite sex. I just would like to be informed. I am not a party man nor a group person nor a smoker, but I occassionally enjoy going out to make friends or meet people from my country of origin. I truly understand restrictions as we all make a haste to have our home and boundaries respected by all. I am the elder of a family of 7 kids. One thing my parents always made sure of is the responsibility to respect others especially while living together. English is my sixth language. I also love to help out with house chores.
I currently reside in Montreal waiting for my student permit from the canadian consulate in Buffalo. Considering the usual study permit process, I should be ready to move by July.
