Hi, my name is Marie(Miriam) and my daughter Eleni have been homestay providers for the last 8 years. Our home is quiet, safe and extremely clean and it is located between Lawrence Station and Lawrence West Station of the subway lines. We provide home cooked organic meals and make sure our homestay students have an environment conducive to learning. We provide fresh linen weekly and have laundry facilities. We can also rent out rooms on a weekly basis with or without meals. We are not smokers and prefer non smokers nor drinkers.
Students, who are serious in learning English we ( both my daughter and I) will assist them to accelerate their learning.
I, Marie(Miriam), am a retired Professor in Business and Financial Mathematics and also like to write poems and essays for all types of occasions.
My daughter Eleni is a licensed ESL teacher as well as a full time student at University of Toronto and at the present she studies at the University of Lyon, France.
Our homestay students have learned and appreciated our home, culture, food and the fun we have together. They also taught us their culture, crafts and traditions about their country. We only serve strictly KOSHER food, which is twice and sometimes three times more expensive. My daughter Eleni likes languages,piano, arts and crafts. She taught one of our homestay girls how to knit. It was because of my daughter that I decided to open our home to foreign students. She was teaching at one of the ESL schools and she found out from the students how difficult it was for them with some of the homestay families. She came one day home and asked me to please consider to take homestay students, because I am such good "mom" and an excellent cook. Here I am eight years later been invited to Japan, China, Hawaii and Korea to attend wedding ceremonies at my homestay students, just because I treat them as they are one of my own. Giving has its own rewards.
